Writing a Resume For the Department of Justice

Writing a Resume For the Department of JusticeWriting a resume for the Department of Justice is a great way to go if you are trying to make the leap from the private sector into the public sector. This will likely be your first government job and you want to get started off right. The government has some of the toughest requirements for this type of job, but if you know what you are doing it shouldn't be too difficult. The number one thing that separates a government career from a private sector career is the fact that the public sector is much more demanding when it comes to earning a paycheck. There are no vacations, no sick days, and very little vacation time. These requirements will show up on your resume, and they will not make it any easier for you to find a job.If you go into the public sector looking for a promotion, you are going to have to fight to get ahead. You will need to prove that you are a hard worker and that you can put in extra hours to help build your position. If you are not able to do this because of previous employment, then you might want to consider going back to school to get the training you need to put in those extra hours. Most jobs in the public sector require a college degree. That means that if you have been out of school for several years and you want to go back to school to earn your degree, you might want to consider going back to school for your job. It will give you the opportunity to continue your education while still gaining experience and knowledge for the next level. The public sector offers a great deal of opportunities for advancement if you are willing to put in the effort. In most cases, you will be able to move up faster than you would if you were trying to find a job in the private sector. Of course, when you move up in the public sector you will be paid more money, so you will have to make sure that you can take care of yourself financially in order to stay competitive.Government jobs are great for people who are i n the public sector because of the educational opportunities available. You can get a master's degree or doctorate in order to advance your career and get hired for the next level. In many cases, you can be earning well over six figures before you even reach the top levels of management. If you have strong job interview skills, you will find that the government offers the highest payouts possible. In fact, there are companies that are willing to pay as much as twelve-hundred thousand dollars to get the top positions. This means that you can make quite a bit of money if you are up for the challenge. The key to landing a job in the public sector is to prove that you are a hard worker. Once you are up for a promotion, you will also need to show that you have the ability to put in extra hours and learn the ins and outs of your job. In order to do all of these things you will need to get some formal training on the job.

Are You Ready to Embrace Objections - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Are You Ready to Embrace Objections - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Objections are your friend, embrace them with all your heart! The opening line may seem a bit peculiar. However, there is truth to those words. Objections are the elements of the conversation that reveal the truth. Consider this, how often on job interviews or sales meetings do you walk away to feel as if all you heard were lies? What if you can turn events around to have only valuable insights and truth coming your way â€" would you then be ready to welcome the objections? My Story Without sales training in my strategy arsenal at the start of my career, I merely entered meetings with the intent to have engaging conversations. In my wildest imagination, I never expected to sell as I didn’t know anything about the process. But the questions I asked of people meeting with me set me apart from most everyone else. It was curiosity and nothing else that prompted the questions. My intention was to learn and not to sell. And learn I did! When those I met finally asked me what I was selling only to be told, ‘Oh no, we don’t need that!  Its too bad because I like you!’ This was the beginning of building a likable personal brand. So I’d return the compliment, ‘I like you too, and am enjoying the conversation.’ But I’d quickly add, ‘please tell me why what I sell isn’t needed so that I understand. Instead of selling, I strived to: Learn from clients Validate why something is not to the persons liking and the reasoning behind it Discover improved routes for increasing interest through QA It was the validation and understanding of why something was not agreeable that generated desired results. Embrace objections because they lead you to the improved path for making the sale. Ask ‘Why?’ and you are half-way there. Your Story Do you: Embrace objections as learning lessons? Remain friendly and inquisitive vs. attempting to force your opinion on someone? Ask underlying questions  to gain a deeper understanding? Self-education along with classes help us to improve. Being bold enough to ask the hard questions is needed to advance your career or achieve sales goals.  Initially, everything appears difficult, and we wonder if the effort is worthwhile. The answer comes only after you pour your heart and soul into the effort to experience the unexpected and incredible results. Sales Tips Ask tough questions no one else is willing to do. Make inquiries when things do not appear to be right. Stop people from speaking when something sounds inconsistent to clarify. Interrupt people if you need clarification on what a term means. Provide your creative ideas. Give an example of how you overcame an obstacle and the results. In meetings, ask a buy-in question after answering a tough question yourself. Learn to welcome objections because they show you the path ahead. Use the expressed concerns as an educational starting point. Celebrate Success! These guidelines will lead you to the Smooth Sale!

5 Ways To Make Extra Money While Attending College

5 Ways To Make Extra Money While Attending College Start Your Own Part Time Business In the U.S., attending practically any college or university is expensive.  Many students find themselves strapped for cash constantly. The  availability of on campus part-time jobs can be scarce. Calling home to  family and friends is not an option for some. When you need money for  extra books, supplies or just an occasional movie and dinner, having a  source of additional income can come in handy. ? Start Your Own Part Time Business One of the best ways to make some extra money while attending college is  to start your own business. It doesnt have to be anything that requires a  lot of time to run and maintain. Think about hobbies or other talents you  have that you could charge money for. Make sure you get permission before you launch your part-time  empire! ? To help get you pointed in the right direction, here are 5 ideas you can  use to put some extra money in your pocket. ? Hair Cutting Service If you have experience in cutting hair, other college students are always  looking for someone to cut their hair. Often, local barber shops or salons  are overpriced. Many students cant afford to pay those prices. If you  have the tools and ability to cut hair, consider offering your services at  a rate cheaper than the local shops. But enough to put a decent amount of  cash in your pocket. ? Class Notes Transcribing Students that opt to record class lectures may be willing to pay someone  to transcribe the information for them. Thats where you come in. If you  have the time, patience and good typing skills. You could offer to  transcribe and deliver a neatly printed version for a fee. You could  charge a flat rate or by the page. ? Bike Repair If your college or university is located on a large campus, there will be  hundreds or thousands of students using bicycles to get to and from  classes. Eventually, chains slip, tires go flat and gears need adjusting.  If you are good with fixing bikes, you can offer repair and simple  maintenance services to students. ? Basic Computer Repair If you know your way around a computer, you may be able to offer basic  computer repairs. Things like memory upgrades, cleaning, installing simple  hardware. Also upgrading operating systems and setting up WI-fi.  ?Not everyone is comfortable when it comes to opening up their computers  or even adding additional hardware. In these cases, they will be more  than willing to pay someone to do it for them. ?? Tutoring This one is the one tried and true way to make some extra cash on campus.  There are always other students in need of tutoring. It can be in any  subject. Some of the most common subjects are foreign languages, math and  science.  If you are exceptional in any of these areas of study, you will find your  tutoring services in high demand. You can charge by the hour and make a  good amount of money to help with your own expenses. ? ? Find Your Niche And Get Started If none of the ideas mentioned here apply to you, just think about things  you do well. Hobbies and skills from previous employment could be used to  create your micro business as well. Finally, make sure you manage your  time well. Dont allow your business to interfere with your class schedule  and study time. This article is produced, courtesy of HHA Training Guide 6

In a Hostile Work Environment, Be the Boss of You - Sterling Career Concepts

In a Hostile Work Environment, Be the Boss of You In a Hostile Work Environment, Be the Boss of You Sometimes we can find ourselves in a hostile work environment.    It’s important to remember that you should only do or say things that align with your chosen core values, whether those requests come from within, or someone else. When you find yourself in an unhealthy or toxic work environment, here are 3 quick ways to regain your autonomy, and ensure that you maintain a healthy degree of sovereignty… Acknowledge Your Feelings.  Check in and ask yourself if you are mad, sad, glad, scared, ashamed, or anything similar. If your dominant feelings are uplifting, you’re moving in the right direction. If you’re feeling consistently angry, sad, scared or ashamed, you’re probably living out of integrity with your core values, and trying to please someone else. Acknowledge Yourself.  You’re amazing. You’re an extraordinary human being…and sometimes you forget that. When you forget, you seek validation from others, and probably give up your power in order to get it. Acknowledge the gold you see in yourself, and remind yourself what you love about you. Soon you’ll feel more powerful and centered, so you can regain the reins on your life, and make choices that serve you best. Communicate Your Boundaries.  When your values are being compromised to the point of discomfort, unhappiness or resentment, it is time to set some boundaries.   When doing so,   communicate clearly, calmly, firmly, respectfully, and in as few words as possible. Do not justify, get angry, or apologize for the boundary you are setting. You are not responsible for the other person’s reaction to the boundary you are setting. You are only responsible for communicating your boundary in a respectful manner. You’re a powerhouse. Let the world know, not by dominating others, but by honoring yourself.

Challenge Mono-uni-task! Day 34 of 30 - When I Grow Up

Challenge Mono-uni-task! Day 34 of 30 - When I Grow Up Yes yes, its Day 34 of 30. Whoever said that it takes only 30 days to break a habit is out of their mind. 30 days to shift their perspective, yes. 30 days to become more conscious (and conscientious), yes. 30 days to figure out how they can do things differently, yes. But 30 days to realize it, execute it, and do it oh hell no! Not to say that this challenge is worthless/hopeless. Not in any way, shape, or form. Since I started this challenge, I have: * recognized that my behavior was a hindrance and starting taking action steps to change this * came to terms with what is splitting my attention and took the temptations away * realized how much power I have just by being conscious of my behavior and really, truly concentrating on changing it * that slow and steady wins the race, and even if I cant be as slow as the tortoise I can still come out as the winner * didnt set goals that were too unattainable so that there is a feeling of accomplishment * researched and incorporated a new way of dealing with my ADD tendencies and become more focused. This has to do with a Moleskine notebook acting as my mindmapping catch-all, and Toodeldo as my To Do list. I know it sounds confusing, but its working for me so far. Once I work out the kinks Ill most likely do a post about it. So, the end of the story is this: realization, action, discipline, and focus are the major points to help you break any bad habit. But dont expect to be a new and improved person in 30 days. Its a good jumping off point to keep you motivated, but it wont be the end of the road.
